vote: event 7

....................
thanks so very much for all of your fantastic nominations in the 2012 handmade olympics. what a wonderful celebration of handmade!

without further ado, i'm thrilled to present our judges' shortlist for event #7!

....................

thanks so much to our fabulous judge for this event,  the wonderful Dana Willard of the  popular DIY sewing, design, and photography blog--MADE.  Her designs have been featured in multiple sewing books, print magazines, and online creative sites.  Her first book, Fabrics A to Z, publishes in April and outlines everything you'll ever need to know about fabric. {p.s. AND... she's a 2011 GOLD medal winner in this event! woohoo!}
find out more about this nicey here!
....................
what our judge had to say about the nominations:
"Narrowing the list down to only 10 is hard work!...and mostly because I found myself "wasting time",  scrolling back and back and back through their blog archives, ohhhing and ahhhing over the cool things these women have made (and quickly adding their sites to my google reader).  Like I need more cool blogs to check in on.
Yes, yes I do.

So here are my top 10 from the list of nominees.
My judging was based on some simple criteria:
Does this site make me want to keep scrolling back to see more?
Do I want to Pin what I see?
Do I feel inspired?
All of these blogs answered YES!"
  ....................

congratulations to the following & please cast your vote for
your favourite blog with a handmade focus!

 A Beautiful Mess:

Who doesn't LOVE this site?  If you've never been there you might be living under a rock.
Sorry. No hard feelings.  But really....if the name doesn't ring a bell, run over now.  Basically....Blonde sister + Brunette sister + rad style + cool ideas = very addictive blog.

....................

 Aesthetic Outburst:

She had me at the beautiful blog header but then her lovely photos, creative style, and variety of projects kept me scrolling back for more.

 ....................

Maureen Cracknell Handmade:

Maureen's site is a rainbow of eye candy.   Even a stack of solid colored fabrics looks new and exciting on her blog.  If you're a quilter or just need a little sewing inspiration, pop on over.

 ....................

 How About Orange:

Jessica is a graphic designer by profession but in her spare time she runs How About Orange, shares cool tutorials, designs modern fabric, makes origami, shares inspiring images.  I could hang out for hours.

 ....................

 Talk 2 the Trees:

Rachael is a true artist.  From paintings to clothing design and fashion tips, she's just.....cute.  Check out her simple summer top made from two silk scarves and 4 stitches.
  ....................

summersville:

I'm not a quilter so it takes the right quilting blog to suck me in.  Enter Summersville.  Beautiful colors, interesting designs, and can I please have a yard of every fabric in her new line?  This site is colorfully yummy.

  ....................

Curly Birds:

Once you get past how adorably cute Helen's curly headed girls are, the amount of projects she shares jumps out at you.  She always has a kid-friendly idea up her sleeve!

....................

  Luvinthemommyhood:

Shannon has knack for making you never want to leave her site.  It's like you've entered a fictitious neighborhood where all the moms get together to sew and knit and chat about life.  Check our her recent sweetheart dress tutorial for a flavor of the mommyhood.

 ....................

 Paging Supermom:

Aimée and Bettijo don't claim to be super all the time.  But put them together and you've got a creatively-packed site with tons of cool projects.

....................

Running with Scissors:

Jessica might have more sewing energy than most people I know.  When she's not making unique clothing for her kids, she's busy competing and winning sewing competitions.  Her "Trip to Granny's" ensemble is spectacular.
